Review a purge proposal as a moisture-control proposal, not just an airflow specification. Our enclosure moisture-load guide includes purge air among the gas-exchange inputs. The supplied air’s moisture content and the receiving conditions matter; the word “compressed” alone does not establish a dry-air specification.
The heater, ventilation and dehumidifier comparison distinguishes changing temperature, exchanging air and removing water. Use that distinction to define the proposal’s job. Retain the project’s cold-surface and moisture-load records rather than treating a pressure statement as evidence that condensation is controlled.
Cooling demand and purge continuity
EXAIR’s catalog distinguishes temperature-controlled, continuous and non-hazardous purge configurations. Supplied air enters the cabinet and displaces air through an exhaust path. Its NHP example maintains some airflow under normal supply conditions when the cooling valve closes. This is not a claim about protection after the air supply fails.
The catalog also specifies filtration for liquid water, dirt and oil. That does not establish a project water-vapor specification. Request humidity or dew-point reports with measurement pressure and location, separately from contamination-treatment evidence.

Keep the safety purpose separate
Pepperl+Fuchs describes Ex p as explosion protection using purging and pressurization. An ordinary moisture-control proposal does not thereby acquire that protection. Hazardous-area applicability belongs to the responsible specialist; this guide supplies no purge sequence, certification, pressure setting or failure action.
Turn the responses into a review record
Use the following proposed document format to keep the decision traceable. It is an editorial handoff aid, not a published test standard or a completed project result.
- Identify the enclosure, candidate configuration and document revision. Link each response to the document actually received.
- Give each question a named owner and a status: received, unclear, missing or superseded. Keep assumptions separate from observations.
- Record discrepancies between the proposal and supporting documents. Ask the supplier to resolve them in a revised response.
- Ask the project engineer to define the acceptance basis and the evidence needed for a decision. Record the reviewed configuration and unresolved items alongside that decision.
- Reopen affected questions when the configuration or supplied documentation changes; retain the previous decision for traceability.
