Industrial desiccant dehumidifier is an equipment which dehumidify the air by using the adsorption properties of rotating desiccant wheel. It consists of a desiccant wheel, blowers, a heater, filters and etc.. Among them, the core component is the rotary desiccant wheel, which determines the overall performance of the unit.
The following Basic Working Principle diagram of Desiccant Dehumidifier gives you a clear explanation.
For industrial desiccant dehumidifier, its core component – the desiccant wheel – is divided into two areas by a seal device, one is the process zone and the other is the reactivation zone. The wheel rotates very slowly at an optimum speed by a geared motor.
When the processing air that needs to be dehumidified is drawn through the filter to the process zone of the wheel by a process fan, the water vapor in it is adsorbed by the carrier in the wheel and the dried air is supplied to the room.
Simultaneously, the ‘reactivation air’, drawn from the counter side through the filter, is heated to a maximum temperature of 100~140℃ and is blown into the reactivation area. It removes the previously absorbed moisture as a vapor from the desiccant wheel and is discharged outside the space by reactivation fan. The wheel(now dry) rotates into a process zone and operation cycle repeats again.
1. Low-Temperature Operation: Because they have no compressor or refrigerant, these units can be used in temperature from minus 10℃ to 50℃, making them in a wider use, such as boats, cold storage, lab, warehouses and more.
2. No Draining Required: Because there is no water collected while dehumidifying the air, they don’t have to be drained or emptied regularly.
3. Optional Ducting: They can be set up in an an adjacent or remote space by ducting to the area which requires dehumidification.
4. Quite Operation: These units operate more quietly without a compressor running.
Different models of desiccant dehumidifiers are suitable for different working environments and humidity requirements. When purchasing a desiccant dehumidifier, you need to consider its applicable occasions, humidity requirements, processing air volume and other factors. For example, for some places that require a high degree of humidity control, such as laboratories, food factories, pharmaceutical factories, etc., you need to choose a dehumidifier with higher precision and larger air volume.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you make the right choice:
– Determine the project site to check the local environmental, climate conditions and power supply.
– Check the temperature range of the environment to ensure that the unit you choose can operate effectively in your space. Desiccant dehumidifiers are often preferred in low-temperature environment where compressor-based units may struggle.
The detailed technical requirements include the space area, height, temperature and humidity requirements, quantity of working staff, number of air changes and fresh air volume.
– Calculate the square footage or volume of the space you need to dehumidify.
– Calculate the wet load (how much moisture) you need to remove to achieve the desired humidity level.
– Choose the dehumidifier with appropriate capacity to ensure that it can handle the extra moisture in your space effectively.
– Look for a unit with high moisture removal rate if you need rapid humidification or if the space experiences high humidity levels.
– Check the energy efficiency rating of the desiccant dehumidifier to ensure it will operate efficiently and minimize energy costs, especially if you plan to run the dehumidifier continuously and frequently.
– Look for the energy-saving features such as programmable settings, auto shut-off and energy-saving modes.
Here, we will discuss some features to consider when purchasing for a dehumidifier, such as:
– Assess portability and placement: Consider the size and weight of the unit. If you plan to move the dehumidifier between rooms frequently or need it for temporary spaces like boats, choose a light weight and portable model with handles and caster wheels.
– Humidity control: Some desiccant dehumidifiers offer adjustable humidity settings. Consider whether you need precise control over the humidity level in your space.
– Remote control: Allow the user to control the devices with greater ease and independence.
– Filter systems: Improve air quality.
In summary, choosing the right desiccant dehumidifiers is crucial for maintaining your target environment. By understanding its benefits, your needs, and some features to consider, you can make an informed decision.
